Who we are
This website is operated by Rancho Roofing, a licensed California roofing contractor based in Encinitas and working across San Diego County. California contractor license CSLB #1153860, classification C-39 Roofing.

What we collect
When you send the contact form
We receive your name, email address, phone number, the property address, the service you asked about, anything you type in the notes, and a photo if you attach one. The form will not send without a name, an email address and a phone number.
When you call or text us
We have your phone number, and whatever you tell us.
If we add an email list
We do not run an email list today. If we add one, it will be a box you tick yourself. It will never be pre-ticked and never required to get a quote. We would take your email address and your street or neighborhood, because the alerts are about weather where you live, and we would use them to send pre-storm weather alerts, occasional maintenance-plan offers, and now and then an offer from a company we work with, sent by us. The sign-up box will say all three. We will update this page before that box appears.
From public property records
If you give us a property address, we may look that address up in the San Diego County Assessor’s public records to see the year the house was built. That tells us roughly how old the roof is likely to be. It is public information and it is the same lookup anyone can do. We use it only to know what to expect before we arrive, or to decide whether a maintenance reminder is worth sending. It is an estimate of likely roof age and nothing more.
When you just read the site
Google Analytics records the visit: which pages were opened, roughly where in the world the visitor is, what kind of device it is, and whether anyone tapped the call, text, email or reviews link, or sent the form. It sets cookies to do this. It does not tell us your name, and we never try to match it to a person.
Why we have it
- To answer you. To look at your roof, quote the work, and stay in touch about that job.
- To send what you asked for. If an email list exists and you joined it, to send only what you joined for.
- To see what the website is doing. Which pages people read, and whether the site works on their phone.
We do not track you around the web, and we do not buy information about you from data brokers. The only thing we add to what you tell us is the public year-built figure described above, and that is an estimate of likely roof age — it does not show whether a roof has already been replaced. We use all of it to answer you, do the job, keep the records the law or a warranty requires, and — only if you opt in — send the emails you joined for.
Who else sees it
Only the companies that make the website work, and only for that purpose:
- Resend delivers the contact form to us as an email. It handles the message on the way through.
- Google , again, because one of the inboxes that receives those emails is a Gmail address. Google’s email service therefore handles your message, and any photo attached to it, in transit and in storage.
- Google Analytics counts visits, as described above.
- Our website host — Vercel, with SiteGround as a fallback — receives the usual server records of every request: the IP address, the page asked for, the date and time, and the browser and device type.
- Google supplies the customer reviews shown on the site. Our own server fetches them from our public Google Business Profile, so reading them sends nothing about you to Google.
We do not sell your details and we do not trade them. We never give our list to a referral or trade partner. The only companies that receive your information are the service providers named above, and only so the website and our email can work. If we ever tell you about another company’s offer, we send you that message ourselves. Your details stay with us.
How long we keep it
Contact form messages arrive as email and stay in our inbox with the rest of our business correspondence. The companies that carry that mail keep their own copies and logs for their own periods, which we do not control. Job records are kept as long as California law and our warranty obligations require. If a list exists and you join it, we would keep your address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
Email we send you
If a list exists and you join it, every email we send will use an honest sender name and an honest subject line, and will carry our valid postal address and a working unsubscribe link. One click removes you. Federal law gives us ten business days to act on that, and we intend to be much faster. We do not buy email lists, and we do not add anyone who did not ask to be added.
Answering your question about your roof is not marketing, and we will always reply to you whether or not you joined any list.
Cookies
The only cookies this site sets are the Google Analytics ones described above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the website still works.
Do Not Track
Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no agreed standard for what a website should do when it receives one, and this site does not currently change its behaviour in response to it. We are telling you this because California law requires the disclosure.
California law also requires us to tell you this: Google Analytics is a third party on this site, and services of that kind are able to collect information about a visitor’s activity over time and across other websites. We do not allow any advertising network to track visitors here.
Seeing, correcting or deleting your details
Ask us and we will copy, correct or delete what we can. Call (619) 847-7663 or email zfm@ranchoroofingsd.com and tell us what you want:
- A copy of what we hold about you.
- A correction to anything wrong.
- Deletion of what we hold, except records we must keep by law or for a warranty.
- Removal from any email list we may run, which the unsubscribe link in each email also does on its own.
We answer these ourselves. There is no form and no department. If something cannot be deleted, we will tell you why — usually a record the law or a warranty requires us to keep, a live dispute, a backup that has not yet cycled, or the suppression list that stops you being emailed again by mistake.
Children
This website is for homeowners and property managers. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection, and the contact form is sent over one. No website can promise perfect security, and we will not pretend otherwise. Please do not send documents you consider sensitive through the contact form.
Links to other websites
Some pages link out, for example to our Google Business Profile or to the California contractor license board. Once you follow a link you are on someone else’s website, under their privacy policy, not this one.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your details, we change this page and update the date at the top, and we put a short plain-language summary of any material change at the top of this page.
This policy describes what this website actually does. It is written for a small local contractor and is not a general legal document. Nothing here removes any right you have under California or federal law.
